Drop-in Writing Group

April 12-28, 2021

A two and a half week drop-in writing group. It will run Monday, Wednesday, Friday for an hour and a half and provides a no-pressure block of time to work on whatever you want. Whether it be editing, research, reading or writing - all are welcome. Bring your poetry, fiction, non-fiction, that essay you need to finish for your prof, anything goes.

Sign up by April 11 to grab a virtual seat.

Dates: April 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28
Time: 7-8:30
Price: Free!
Food/Drink: Bring your own - feel free to snack away while we work.
Location: Google teams (Note: No need for you to have a gmail account to participate)
General Notes: Each workshop will start with a quick round-table on what we are hoping to achieve for the evening, it can be as big or small as you like. Then we will write for an hour and check in at the end with a round table of our successes. No success is too small - even if it’s just three words!

This is a no-pressure drop-in event so if you sign up but can’t make it to a night or three, don’t worry about it!

Writing Workshop & Book-Club

March-June 2019

Want to read more but life is In The Way All The Time? Want to write more but can’t make time (I feel you)? Want to hang out with cool people to talk about books, writing, and how we should burn down the patriarchy?

Join this four month Writing Workshop & Book-Club!

Every month you will receive a collection of readings - short stories, a series of poems or some combination thereof. When we meet up we’ll dig into the readings; explore writing prompts so you come away with some new pieces; and provide feedback on any ongoing projects you want work-shopped.

Dates: March-June; Last Sunday of Every Month
Time: 10am-1pm
Price: Sliding scale 125-300 (Open to discussion for prices. All proceeds will go to Galloway Defense Fund and Toronto Rape Crises Centre or a charity of your choice.)
Food/Drink: I will provide coffee, tea and light snacks and food bits (maybe mimosas).
Accessibility: Unfortunately my apartment is not accessible. There are stairs up to my floor and the bathroom is small for those using mobility devises. In the future I will work to find an accessible space.
What are we reading? You can expect us to cover Charlotte Perkins Gilman; Ann Petry; Shirley Jackson; Virna Sheard; Carmen Maria Machado and others.
General Notes: Please be aware that topics discussed may include gender, violence, sexuality, and patriarchy, among other things. Anonymity is to be respected - what is said at the workshop stays at the workshop.

Due to limited space of my apartment this round is open to 5 people.
